I use to be one of those players who thought levels were needed to learn your class. So I had already experienced this first level cap increase in the first WoW expansion TBC, so when the second time came around I woke up and realized how pointless these levels really are. Keep in mind each WoW expansion increased the level cap by 10 each back then. But fast forward a few years later to the second expansion of WoW. The idea of a multiplayer online RPG having so few levels seem stupid to me. In GW1( it's not a MMO but fits this discussion) it had only 20 levels, and I thought that was stupid back then when games like Runescape had 100 levels and WoW had 60 levels. To me, back when I was new to the genre my views of certain things was much different and more naive to certain bad time sink game designs. I have a lot of time right now and even I dont play MMos much anymore. No matter how good an mmo is I will never get there again. Back then ya WoW and Lineage 2 were 10+ hour days because I didn't have shit to do. No mmo can take all my time anymore just a fact of life. All the upcoming games.aside from camelot and amazons ark attempt (in a very boring setting) are the only two i see making it, and i dont see camelot lasting very long.basing your game on huge fights that require a large eat in the mid 2000's, not so much a good idea these days. MMORPGS always lived on the hype of something new and better around the corner. Nothing good on the horizon is a big downside. I tried to get into Neverwinter, which ill probably go back to, as it at least has interesting combat, and i feel is under rated at least in the early game. While not MMORPGS i spend a lot of time in POE and Warframe, both capture the loot and progression pretty well with adding a more interesting combat approach than MMORPGS ever did. Little general chat, little interaction, finding an active and boisterous community is very difficult. Part of the reason is the general death of the MMORPG as a genre, the other part is communities in MMORPGS are a shadow of what they use to be, which is what makes it so hard to get back in. The only ones around worth playing have been around a long time, hard to get back into a game after spending a decent chunk of time.

What didn't you like about it? From what I've seen, the hard part is finding a server you want to play on, or getting your mods sorted out if you want to play solo. It wouldn't be different since just last month. So have they improved things and if so, how? I bought Ark last month but only played it for 45 minutes. Your continued enthusiasm makes me want to try the game. Now the challenging content is there but I can engage with it when I'm in the mood, not get interrupted when I'm trying to gather basic resources or tame a starter mount or grow some crops. I just got really tired of having my house destroyed, not to mention being 1-hit killed in my own backyard. I've tried various servers with different settings, but ultimately I had to set up what I wanted, which is a starter/home zone which has no large dinosaurs and no predators larger than a dilo. The base mode of Ark is actually too challenging for me.

I don't approve of what Snail games is doing using the same template/engine to rehash several games with simplya new skin but then i remembered that is what all the dev studios have been doing with Torchlight 1.2 Diablo 1.2.Destiny 1.3.The Division 1.2.goes way way back ,Baldur's gate 1.2,All of these games if around long enough just rehash with a new skin because it saves a ton of money and time and yet they sell them as brand new games.Ītlas allows me to build anywhere, sail the seas in realistic water, meaningful weather effects, very realistic type creatures, survival eating/drinking,treasure bottles with guardian battles,on the seas warfare or simply add artillery to land bases ,anywhere you want.It has discoveries and sometimes takes some real hiking/climbing to discover,oh yes you can even climb the sides of cliffs, scale walls and the game is VERY challenging with ZERO hand holding. I have been playing it's sequel "Atlas" and enjoying it a lot playing on several different servers to get a feel for different game play/settings.IMO Atlas is a bit better than Ark but basically the same thing. It's an MO, not MMO, but I've been playing Ark avidly for the past month and some.
